BOHAN, WOODS posted by Diane Bick & Dan Smith on Saturday, November 1, 1997
John BOHAN (b. 1840?) and Margaret WOODS (b. 1852 ?) farmed in Saline County, Salt Springs Precinct according to the 1880 census. They moved here from Lafayette County (Freedom Township), where they appeared in the 1870 census, with their five children. Both were Catholic, and many of their children, including my great-grandmother were probably born here. I am interested in finding out how to contact the local Catholic Church, and finding out about contacting the county office for birth information. In addition, I think Margaret WOODS, mother, Elizabeth WOODS (b1829 ?-Ireland) may be buried here. Please let me know of any resouces available in the county that I could use and/or contact. Thanks!

CORDES, HAZELL, MILLER posted by Kathy Buckholz on Saturday, November 1, 1997
My grandfather, Clarence Herbert MILLER, was born in Saline County, near Sweet Springs, on August 30, 1899, to George Waltham MILLER and Mamie Sophie CORDES MILLER. George and Mamie married in Sweet Springs on June 12, 1895, at the opera house. They were married by the Salvation Army and it was such a deal that they charged admission and had a full house. They had an older son born in Saline County before my grandfather and he died within a couple of years. I would like to know more about that. Also, if I could get more info on their marriage ceremony, I would like that. George had two sisters also. One was named Mary and she married James E. HAZELL; they had two children that I know of, Earl and Rubie. I found them in the 1900 census in Saline County. I want to trade and share information.

HARRIS, KEETON posted by Sally Keeton Eichhorn on Sunday, November 30, 1997
Some years ago someone gave me a copy of a letter written by a Wilkerson KEETON from Saline Co Mo. It was written in 1864 and the contents of the letter is about the cold weather and the war and Mr.Lincoln...It was mailed in Brunswick and it was written to a Mr D.R.HARRIS in New Heartford. Pike Co.Illinois.. The reason the letter was given to me is because I am a KEETON and I was doing the family history. The letter is a thrill and I would like to share it with the Wilkerson KEETON family.
